...MAY YOU HAVE HEAVEN IN YOUR HEART...STARLIGHT IN YOUR SOUL AND ANGELS ALL AROUND YOU!

This little chair was picked up at the Hereford Senior Citizens Thrift Store for only $5....can't beat that!

She was a pretty little Plain Jane and definitely in need of a face lift.  There were numerous layers of paint on her, the last was a brownish tan...not quite my style. So after tightening all of the screws, I base coated the chair in a rich yummy Black Cherry acrylic paint by Delta.  Since this chair was a bit plain, I thought it needed more than a coat of chalk paint.  I absolutely love chalk paint...its simplicity and the soft patina of the wax; however,  I wanted this chair to have a bit more umph, so I pulled out my old Decorative Painting books in search of the perfect look.  I chose a piece from Helen Cavin.   Helen was a personal friend of our family and such a delightful and precious lady.  She was a Master when it came to decorative painting and had the most wonderful sense of color.

I chose to paint an angel and village scene on the back of the chair and roses on the seat.  Many times, Helen would have a special surprise place on her pieces where she would add that final touch and her signature...inside a box lid, on the back of a piece or on the underneath side of a piece.  So when you turn the chair around, you'll find some sweet little flowers that mimic the ones above the angel along with a signature.  A little nod to Helen.  She always said it was like a little surprise.  She even felt that way when adding décor in her home...put some of your things in unexpected places.  Helen was a beautiful and special lady!
