If you've read any of our posts, you know our favorite places to shop for our crafting projects are thrift stores. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful thrift store right here in Hereford.  The Hereford Senior Citizens Thrift Store, located at 1306 East Park Avenue, is the local business we would like to share with you this month.

The Thrift Store is managed and run by Regina Waltersheid along with help from Margot Sims and several loyal volunteers.  All proceeds from the Thrift Store go to help the Hereford Senior Citizens Center.

People generously donate a plethora of items to the and shoes, crafting and sewing items,  dishes, all manner of housewares and decorative items, exercise and sports equipment, furniture, garden and pet supplies, lamps, wall art, baby items....the list goes on and on.

Many of the "good junk" items used making our "Unique Birdhouses" were purchased from the Thrift Store...metal candy dishes and platters, light fixture shades, lantern tops, and lamp parts.  Brass candlesticks become trunks for our Christmas Trees in the post "Altered Books".  Books, hymnals, dictionaries, and Readers Digests (also from our "Altered Books" post) came from the Thrift Store.  Much of the trim, rick rack, ribbon, buttons, and doilies we used on our "Shabby Flags"...and you guessed it... were also purchased from the Thrift Store.  They also have an endless supply of dishes that are perfect for creating mosaics.

We don't just use purchased items for our crafts, many of the items are used in our home décor.  Look at these Hobnail pieces and hand painted dishes.

How about this pitcher with lilac accents...the color is so unusual.

This little pink plate is such a favorite along with this Wedgewood teapot.

Such a sweet little gold and white bowl....

...and these small silver dishes are perfect for candy or a place to put your jewelry, just look at how detailed the flowers are.

Love this sweet little saucer!

There are so many other great items that have found their way into our homes.

The Thrift Store is such a wonderful place to shop.  We hope you'll check them out.  We just know you'll find something you need or perhaps just want, and you'll be helping out our local Seniors, which is such a wonderful thing to do!
